I Changed My Mind.
The Way I Learned The Value of the Side Hustle...
Not everyone can just follow their passion, be a digital nomad, or chase their wildest fantasy.
It may sound harsh, but it's true.
Sometimes, people start a family early, have to care for their elders, or earn an income to support those around them.
I've spoken to many entrepreneurs over the years who have been in this situation and utilized their "off hours" to plant a seed for something else-- something new.
Enter... The Side Hustle.
If you asked me to speak on this four years ago, I wouldn't give a side hustler the time of day.
I was an all-in or all-out type of guy. If you're not investing all your energy into your main objective, you're just wasting your time.
Over the last few years, my perspective has shifted. 🤷♂️
I realized the value of a side hustle.
We live in a world of infinite resources, and as cheesy as this is, if there's a will, there's a way.
The time you spend on your side hustle is the time to prove and validate something before going all in.
You can utilize your off time to develop a minimum viable product and work towards making that thing.
The time must be intentional and deliberate. You must be disciplined.
Julie, my wife, is a full-time mother and has been building her business, Julkee Fashion, as a side hustle for years. Now she's at a point where she can onboard a 3PL Company, Social media support, and sales are growing. The Julkee journey will continue changing, but seeing her side hustle is honestly inspiring.
This is something you can do, too. If you feel inclined to follow a passion or blaze a new trail to financial independence, start on a side hustle.
But before I sign off, we need to get real.
Be clear about where you are in the journey with yourself; lying to yourself about progress or performance will do nothing to help you succeed. Stay true to getting better every day, that's the goal.
Self-help books may motivate you, but that will fade fast, and you must establish the habits + consistency to succeed.
A book I'd recommend to anyone in this spot is Execution Factor by Kim Perell to help you establish a roadmap.
