Winning Your Busiest Days

5 Steps That Will Kickstart Your Day..

We all have at least one day a week we KNOW will be extra long. If you're not careful about your approach to days like these, it will inevitably kick your ass.

And I know everyone's go-to advice is: "Start your day off right!" But this generality means nothing without some context. So I want to tell you about my morning practices on the busiest day of my week.

I always start my day off strong by waking up early. As soon as my feet hit the floor, my priority is a quick 10-minute stretch routine followed by 10 minutes of meditation. Once I have woken up my mind and body, I go through any standard morning routine– with one caveat. When I eat my breakfast, brush my teeth, wash my face, etc. I listen to an audiobook. To round out the morning, I button up my dress shirt, throw on my sports coat, and head out the door.

Pretty simple, right? Nothing seems much different than any typical morning routine. But the value lies in the details…

1. Wake Up Early

Waking up early is a great way to start your day on the right foot. You can take the opportunity to get a head start on your day and accomplish more before the rest of the world wakes up. It allows you to take some time for yourself before the hustle and bustle of the day begins.

2. Get Your Blood Flowing

Moving your body when you first wake up jumpstarts the day. Even a quick 10-15 minute workout or stretch can help to wake up your body and get your blood flowing. It helps to increase your energy levels and improves your mood, setting you up for a productive day ahead.

3. Activate Your Mind

Meditation or pausing for 10 minutes before jumping into your day can help you to clear your mind and reduce stress and anxiety, which allows you to focus on the tasks at hand. Take a few moments to yourself in the morning to feel calmer and more centered throughout the day. You can also add mindfulness techniques or simple gratitude exercises to prioritize your mental well-being.

4. Use Your Time in the Morning to Grow

One of the best ways to use your early morning time is to read/listen to books or listen to motivation. On my busiest days, I opt for an audiobook to balance my time. It will help you to start your day with a positive mindset and give you the inspiration you need to tackle any challenges that come your way.

5. Dress for The Day

One of the most effective ways to prepare for the day is by starting with our physical appearance. Dressing for success will leave you looking polished, but more importantly, it also helps you feel confident. A suit is like a coat of armor; it prepares you for any obstacle that may come your way. As my mom always said, "Dress like today is the most important day of your life," and I couldn't agree more.

It doesn't take a lifestyle overhaul or hours of preparation. You can alter the trajectory of your day with a couple of tweaks to your morning routine.
